Tanks, pumps and nozzles

Model the forecourt so every meter reading knows which tank it reduces.

4 min readUpdated

Petronyx represents the forecourt as three linked layers. Tanks hold a fuel grade. Pumps hold nozzles. Each nozzle is linked to exactly one tank. That link is what turns meter readings into stock movement.

Tanks

  • Give each tank a recognisable name, such as the number painted on the fill point.
  • Record the safe working capacity in litres and the fuel grade it holds.
  • Enter the opening stock from a physical dip taken when you go live.
  • If a tank changes grade, record it in Petronyx rather than renaming the old tank, so history stays correct.

Pumps and nozzles

Add each pump, then its nozzles. For every nozzle, choose the fuel grade and the tank it draws from, and enter the opening meter reading. Nozzles can have manual meters, electronic meters, or both; Petronyx records whichever you capture.

Maintenance and documents

Pumps carry their own maintenance history and documents, such as calibration certificates. Calibration due dates can be tracked in the compliance module so they are renewed before they lapse.
